After writing my post on my battle with c. difficile, so many people have graciously checked up on me to make sure I am okay. So I thought I would write an update post. I am happy to report that my health is coming right along. In fact, I haven’t been this healthy since I became pregnant with my first child 8 years ago. It’s amazing how much those sweet, incredible, little humans can suck the life right out of you!
My c. difficile came about as a direct result from having such a depleted body. From being sick for 9 months straight 3 times, to being sick for 16 weeks with my third baby and then losing it in an excruciating miscarriage, to my difficulties with celiac disease and Hashimoto’s disease; I have really put my body through the wringer the last decade. I often remember when I was a kid and said my life goal was to have a hundred kids. I was blissfully unaware of the physical toll each pregnancy would take on me. How times have changed…
Thankfully, through good eating habits, regular exercise, and good sleep; everything is looking up. I am grateful to be able to do what I want to do each day; to run with my kiddos, to being able to finish insane projects, to taking care of a small brood of children and pets. Not to mention homeschooling and teaching pharmacology classes somewhere in there. Life certainly is busy, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tired a good chunk of the time; but it is a good tired, not a my body is overwhelmed with fighting off disease tired.
I still do have issues with c. diff. from time to time when I get sick or stressed out, but my body is able to fight it off very quickly because I am so much healthier now.
I am so grateful for all you wonderful followers who have been concerned for me! I am firing on all cylinders now. For anyone in the throes of a difficult illness, I am so sorry. I hope you find your way on the other side of it soon.
